Lake Nakuru National Park is centered around the shallow alkaline Lake Nakuru, whose water levels fluctuate seasonally. The lake has historically attracted millions of flamingos, creating one of Africa's most spectacular wildlife displays. Although flamingo numbers vary depending on water levels and food availability, the park remains an exceptional birdwatching destination. The park is one of Kenya's leading rhino sanctuaries, providing a safe habitat for both black rhinos and southern white rhinos. It is also one of the few places in Kenya where visitors can easily spot the endangered Rothschild's giraffe. The landscape features acacia forests, euphorbia woodlands, open grasslands, rocky escarpments, waterfalls, and scenic viewpoints overlooking the Great Rift Valley. Its relatively compact size allows visitors to enjoy excellent wildlife viewing within a single day.
